Nettly Wood

For a family retreat on Decatur Island, architects Tom Bosworth and Steve Hoedemaker designed a series of structures in the midst of this 25 acre wooded parcel. Trees removed from building sites were preserved and milled for timber framing. The main house serves as a central gathering place complete with kitchen, dining room, living room and fireplace inglenook. Other buildings in the compound include a master suite cabin, guest cottage, writers hut, barn and timber frame pavilion. Structures are adjoined by a continuous pathway. This two year project on an un-ferried island incorporated the help of dozens of local craftsmen and required all materials and services be privately barged.
